Introduction
Siarza created a comprehensive mobile application designed to connect at-risk individuals with vital mental health resources for the Bernalillo County Department of Behavioral Health Services. Launched in 2022, the BernCo application serves as a testament to the power of effective research, planning, and implementation within the digital health landscape.
Challenge
The primary challenge was to reach the target demographic of individuals in need of mental health resources in Bernalillo County and its surrounding areas. The application needed to be user-friendly, maintain privacy, and facilitate easy access to services.
Strategy
The strategy involved extensive primary and secondary research to guide the design and functionality of the application. The Siarza team utilized social media, key influencers, stakeholder relations, and social media advertising to promote the application. The objective was to drive at least 50 to 100 downloads between both operating systems.
Results
In response to these efforts, the objective was met—the app was downloaded and installed at least 50 to 100 times across both operating systems. This success demonstrates the effectiveness of the research, planning, and implementation process in addressing the mental health crisis in the targeted region.
Lessons Learned:
The project provided invaluable insights for future initiatives. Expanding resources for application download and increasing the app promotion budget would potentially enhance the audience growth rate for Android and Apple users. Despite constraints, this case study highlights the value of strategic application development in addressing pressing community health concerns.
